Lots and lots or choices out there...

Just wondering what everyone uses? Been years and years since I have bought a tree stand and I have no idea what's good and what's crap from the pictures in basspro and cabelas :scrutiny:

Im about 5-11, 170lbs so I don't need anything extra super strong, but I DO want to be comfortable for long hours and want to be able to lounge around a bit up in the tree. I don't want to feel like I'm sitting in my grade school desk like some of the stands out there.

Thanks in advance... :D

I also have a Summit and it's fairly comfortable and roomy. I have heard good things about Lone Wolf tree stands but they are pricey.

I use a lone wolf alpha climber and love it. There are not alot of trees in Kansas suitable for use with a climber but I have found a couple in fairly productive areas. I have owned one by a company called hunters view and another by summit. The hunters view is bulky and akward in the woods. The summit I had was hard to master in use. Without much to grab onto on the upper portion it seemed to me like to much energy was wasted climbing into position it also IMHO invited accidents. Just no positive grip and somewhat heavy.

I've used both Summit and Lone Wolf. Both are VERY well made. But probably over engineered. I'm about your same size and for the price prefer my Gorilla stand. It cost me 1/2 of what a Summit did, is as comfortable to sit in as one, and isn't that much heavier.

If you are in the market for a cheap stand, (I'm frugal), you might check out Sportsman's Guide. They have a stand similar to the Summit Viper but they sell for $75. The only down side is their weight of 28#. I have 3 and like them very much. They are easy to use, comfortable and solid.
