That post on the Beretta forum reminded me of something. Back when I shot USPSA, a buddy of mine had a high cap .45 built on a Para Ordnance frame. Since no one in their right minds was building an open class .45, there were no 170mm mag bodies to be had in .45. He had a guy weld six mags into three 170mm mags. I don't remember which springs he used, but they worked. Might be something to look into.

It's a shame that there aren't any more semi-auto pistol cartridge carbines on the market. At least something that accepts Glock or Springfield XD high capacity magazines but preferably something dedicated in the 20-30rd range. I always hoped that Ruger would build the PC carbine in .45ACP and 10mm. Seems to me that the best option for a high capacity .45 carbine is a dedicated AR upper that takes greasegun magazines.

Anyone know if the Springfield hi-cap 1911A fits the CCU that MechTech makes for 1911's? They said they were building CCU's for the XD's, but so far just Glock's & 1911's...
