Just wanted to pass along some info in case y'all ever have this happen.
When I went down to the SO to get my last NFA paperwork signed (Form 4 for SWR Trident 9) some younger new guy did my prints. He smudged one single finger, and said, "No big deal; we'll do a re-tab." He then put a white sticker over the smudged one and redid the print on the sticker. I never heard of this, and I asked him if the ATF would accept it. He didn't know, but he said if they won't take it he would do all the prints again for free. I thought, "What the hell, I don't want to wait for another card to come in the mail."
All of you paranoid and pessimistic people were sitting on one shoulder and saying, "They'll never take it!" The other shoulder has me saying,"It'll be okay.":D
This has always been an easy process (Form 1's and Form 4's) for me. Get a signature, get prints, and mail off $200. Good to go. Six weeks or maybe 8 weeks later, my stamp is back in my mailbox. This one one took forever:rolleyes:...okay 4 months isn't forever. It seemed long compared to the other ones. But, main thing...
The ATF will accept fingerprint cards with re-tab stickers on them.
So, if some goober at the SO or PD smudges a print on your only card, don't worry yourself to death.
To all the new or prospective NFA owners: It can go very easy, it is worth it, and it is a freakin' blast.:D:D:D Don't get discouraged and decide not to do it just because someone else says it is hard. Everyone and every situation can be different, but believe me. If all mine took 6-8 months instead of 6 weeks, I had to do the trust, had to do whatever :cuss: thing else, I would still say it is worth it.
