Got one incoming and I will reload for it.

What do you like/use powder and bullets?

Thanks,

RMD

Which rifle? I just got my K-31 in. Just got the dies and brass. I plan on using some of the 308 bullets I have on hand. 170Grn cast on down to 147 FMJs. I also plan on using Trail Boss for low power fun. But I have Ramshot's Tac if I decide to load full throttle loads. But right now I'm working with a German K-98. Once I get that gun settled out, I'll start in on the K-31.

Reloder 15 and 168 gr Sierra Match Kings is my usual load, and shoots very well.

The guys over on the Swiss Rifles forum are getting great results with Reloder 17 and 175gr Berger VLDs.

What rifle? If it is a STGW 57/AMT you can not reload for it. Pic Below:

The chamber is fluted in a strange way which deforms the brass quite badly. Some say that you can reload this, but I would be wary.

For the K-31 you can happily reload. Ideal results would be with bullet wieghts and velocities that mimic the GP-11 round. The rifle was optimised for it.

K-31. Nothing as exotic or sexy as the STGW 57. Small steps, small steps. Maybe one day.

Thanks,

43.0 Grains IMR 4064
168 GR Sierra Match King
CCI #200 LR primers

This is a very accurate load out of my K31. Light recoiling as well. Here is my best group at 100 yards. I love this rifle!

The K31 I shoot most originally did not like 168gr match bullets. All it really seemed to like were Remington 165gr SPCL bulk softpoints, and slower powders in the 4831 range. It came to me with a rather new barrel, and after being shot a lot, its tastes have changed.

Sierra has an accuracy load suggestion, and I substituted the very similar Nosler bullet: 168 Nosler & 43.9gr IMR4064. I used it in the Vintage Military match at Camp Perry this year with an RWS primer & Prvi case. It shoots better than anything else I've tried, but it is very temperature sensitive. In the spring, when it was cool, it would print a really tight group at 200 yards in the bottom of the 9 ring. In the 90F heat of August in Ohio, it put a nice group in the 10 ring.

Start low and work up. As I gradually increased the load, the groups were merely ok, but when I reached the charge Sierra recommended, the groups shrank.

a plinking load I use for all my .30 cal. rifles is a 150 gr.bullet over 22.5 grs. of SR 4759...jwr
