How many pistols do you own?

I know a lot of us can't own too many handguns. While reading thru the threads i realize many only own one or two. The purpose of this poll is to see what the average number of pistols owned is. If you desire to state how many you own, please do so. I capped it at 10 or more so that is a broad category.

I'd like to suggest adding a few new choices to the poll:

o More than 15

o More than 20

o More than 25

o More than 30

o More than 40

o More than 50

o More than 60

That should give a better idea of who has what...

Wow, most people have more than 10? Why? I've got 3 9mm and 2 .22LR. I don't even [i[want[/i] another pistol. Seems like just a waste of money, I can only shoot one at a time (2 if I'm feeling gangsta).

Only two for now. A Ruger Blackhawk .45 Colt and a S&W Sigma 40VE. I definately want to add a few more. A 1911, a Blackhawk in .357 mag, and a nice compact piece for CCW. I'm sure when I get them, there'll be more though. That's how it always goes.

I started shooting revolvers and collecting Smiths. I eventually got into autos, bought several different kinds, and started accumilating 1911s. I found I was doing the same with HKs. I have another HK on its way now.
Now, I'm thinking of my first XDm in 9mm.

I rarely sell any firearm. I envision me teaching my grandkids firearms fun and fundamentals. So, I assume I'll need them all.

In case one breaks or is confiscated (shoot an intruder, lose your gun for a few months - at least in my state). And one is actually for the wife.

The 2 .22's could be consolidated into one, I kind of inherited one of them and neither are ideal.

Full sized steel 9mm, 2 compact/midsized 9mm (P-07/Steyr M9-A1), subcompact 9mm.... seems like an easy justification there...

.22 Lr (walther P22) for general plinking and introducing others to shooting,
.22 Lr conversion for my Kimber 1911 in .40

that is a fraction of my guns and I assure you I can justify every single one of them... thing is, i dont have to!

I have 4 9mm, 1 .40 cal, 2 .45ACP, 2 .22 Lr (need a few more of these!!!), 1 7.62x25, 1 .380, 1 .38, 3 full sized .357 mags, and I know I am forgetting a....... couple...

I am missing a 45 colt single action, a 45 acp double action, a 3 inch 1911, 22 Lr revolver (single action or double action or both,) a 44 special double action, a Glock (sadly!!!! but every collection needs one,) a 92 (Taurus or Baretta,) and several others that I cannot think of right now...

Once again, I can justify every single one of them....:neener:

and it all started with a P22

Why more than one? Most serve different purposes, some I just wanted 'cause they're different and fun to shoot.

Seven for now. I have at least two on my wish list, the S&W M&P 40 pro series 5" and a S&W 310 night guard .40/10mm. Right now I only deal in two calibers: .40 S&W and .357mag. Well, that's unless you count .22lr which is really a rifle chambering I guess (and .38 special since my .357's will shoot that too). I also eventually want a big bore revolver in .500 S&W, but I have no legitament use for it, I just think they're cool. If they made one in black I'd probably already have it.

From left to right: S&W M&P 340 .357 magnum, S&W M&P 40 Compact .40 S&W, H&K USP 40 Compact .40 S&W, S&W M&P 40 .40 S&W, S&W M&P 40 Pro Series .40 S&W, S&W 22a .22lr, and S&W M&P 327R8 .357 magnum.

I have to carry an H&K at work. They issue me one, but I still like to have another of my own to practice with. I wish they would switch to M&P's but I don't see that happening. The H&K is a good pistol, I just prefer the fit, feel, trigger and parentage of the M&P.

2 1/2. Beretta 92, Taurus Mil Pro, and a SIG on the way. If you consider that I bought the 92 in March, I'm running about 1 new every 2 months (all with holsters and extra mags) I'm beginning to bump up against my wife's limit of acceptability. So I took her to the range and gave her the Taurus... she took a photo of her new gun to post on FB, and I'm down to 1 1/2, but back in business.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

Get down to the gun shop and pick up another gun. Ruger made 1,000 limted 44 special Vaquero, 3 5/8 barrel. They have never made a 44 special before. Go buy it to go along with the HK P30 you need.

Two is one and one is none....take it from there

I don't know! It seems that one is 10 and 2 is twenty by this poll.

If you have a lot more than you thought, does that mean it's time to stop buying or buying more..... or if you have an odd number does it mean it's time to get one more?

Is it OCD if you just HAVE to have at least one in each caliber? Or two?

If you have one that you haven't shot in a year but it's not really a safe queen, is it time to trade it for another or two?

So many questions, not enough guns.... :what:

I don't think so. To me it sounds like a practical thing to do. That said at the moment I only have 9mm and .22 handguns.

It seems that it is time to get your wife to the range for some fun time...

You're going to bias your results posting here instead of General since more folks with no handguns are likely to stay out of here.

THR is likely to have more people with more of anything than the general public.

Even with those assumed biases, I'm impressed by the percentage of members with 10+ firearms.

I have 13 handguns. I participate in modern and vintage military, black powder cartridge, never give away a gift, and sometimes buy a gun just for funsies (to answer the question, is that gun as good or bad as people say). I have only two I think of as weapons (full size Ruger Security Six and a snub .38).

My wife has one handgun for self defense only, another snub .38.
