and to contradict hagen a little, I've had good luck with cheap truglo and the millet multidot. not so good with tasco.

a safer bet is to not go cheap. in that vein, I might look at the bushnell tr-25, (the little one, I think that's the name) the vortex strikefire, and the lucid hd7.

My favorite Mini14 wears an Aimpoint CompM2 that I bought used, using a Burris ring and an Ultimak mount. It's a reliable setup, but I would have preferred a mounting system that co-witnessed the red dot with the iron sights. Sadly, there is no such thing as far as I know.

I have the Aimpoint micro red dot. .Have used it on a 44 smith . sold the gun . now use on a 357 and a Glock 17l works great
