I shot my new model 60 this evening. It is blue with a black synthetic stock. Shot pretty nice for the first time out. But........to me, the trigger is terrible. Long pull and a hard pull. Are all model 60 triggers like this? Anything I can do to help it?

Also, slapped a used bushnell banner 3x9 on it I had laying around. Scope was so-so. Might need to replace it if I keep it scoped. Is it better to shoot the 60 with open sights or a scope?

Make sure the trigger assembly is really clear of debris or grease. I know its time for a cleaning on mine when my trigger gets gritty and harder to pull.

Though I've never done anything with the springs, this guy has a pretty good tutorial on lightening the trigger. I just used the pictures to help me figure out how in the world to put everything back together once I got it apart...

Mine wasn't gritty, just a long hard pull. It's new, might not have got it all cleaned out enough.

Degrease it and thank a lawyer.

Just today I ran some mixed ammo through my M60 SS, some 100 rounds or so, and it had been a while. I have to say, that Marlin is so slick to gobble the mixed ammo without a hiccup, and the trigger on that rifle is very smooth and predictable.

I think if you give it some time to break in, your trigger may get better too. If not, there is plenty of info online on how to smooth the trigger.

the trigger on mine reminds me a lot of an AR. Short, a bit heavy and fairly crisp.

Mine was never heavy, but gritty? Constantly. And I could've sworn I kept it clean...
