I noticed the CMP has the Hornady .223 75 GR BTHP Match. I have a RR NM and would like to know how this would do at 100 and 200 yards. I have never fired factory ammo from this rifle, only my reloads with great results. Just interested if this would be worthwhile to experiment with. I currently use the Sierra 53 GR HP. Thanks to all.

What twist rate does your rifle have? 75gr will require 1:7 or 1:8 usually. Sometimes you can get by with 1:9 but it seems iffy.

^ I would echo this, when I saw 75gr my first thought would be the rifling twist

I shoot Hornady 75gr HPBT (reloads) out of my RRA NM A2 at all the stages. One gun, one load. You will be fine.

I've been running 77's across the course in an RR service rifle, they run fine but you need 1-7 or 1-8 to make it happen.

I have a Bushmaster with a 1:9 twist. What would happen if I were to shoot 75gr ammo? Is it dangerous or just that it's not as accurate as a smaller bullet.

What is the largest bullet one should shoot in a 1:9 twist barrel? 69gr?

I'd appreciate any input from TexasRifleman or others.

Thank you.

Not dangerous, a slower twist just might not stabilize a heavier bullet enough to be very accurate, especially at longer ranges.

Many, if not most, 1:9" barrels will stabilize the 75.
