Awesome guns.
I have a Sig P220 that is totally hard chromed, and absolutely love it.
Get it, you will not be disappointed.

I am not the most experienced shooter but I have one and absolutely love it. It fits my hand better than any other handgun I have tried. I am also more accurate with it than any other handgun. I have the standard P220 and I would love to get the P220 ST. I think that anyone would be happy with it.

You will find alot of rabid fans of Sig Sauer & specifically the P220 here & elsewhere (sigforum.com). Since you say that you are acquiring the gun, it sounds like some sort of private party thing, if so, give a test shoot & judge for yourself! If you like it, & the price is right, buy it ;)

Sig's are fun guns to shoot. .45 ACP is the best handgun round to shoot (my opinion of course). You wont be dissappointed :)

Here is a picture of a Sig 220ST. They are great guns. Some call them the most accurate Combat .45ACP out of the box. Them are right :)
Enjoy

P220, mmmmmmm...
Quite possibly my favorite .45ACP!!!!
It's because of 45R and that CRAZY asian dude that drives a Porsche and that got us lost in Elk Grove that I'm liking Sigs all over again!!!!!!!!!!

I'm thinking about sending my P226 and P228 off for some work!
Maybe I'll pick up a P220...

My 220 is the most accurate auto pistol I've ever owned straight out of the box, and I've owned some damn fine pistols. It also has been 100%, completely and totally reliable.
Oh, and for my 220 trivia: My 220 was officially the last gun ever sold "legally" on ebay....at 11:53, just seven minutes before the cut-off date! Price paid? $500! :D

Greeting's All-
Well, I don't think you really need my opinion; as other's
have given excellent review's! :D I guess the best way
for me to sum up would be too say, if I could only have
one self-loader; then the .45 caliber SIG-SAUER P220A
would definitely be it. ;) IMHO there IS NOT a better
DA/SA semi-auto on the market, bar none. I
have carried a standard, blued model .45 caliber P220
daily since 1988; without any type of malfunction. That
is why its my #1 choice for a self-defense sidearm! :uhoh:
Like several other's have said already, it fits my hand
like a glove.
Overall, its the most accurate out of the box self
loader on the current market. Sure, there are other
quality firearms out there; and believe me, I've owned
most of them. Some have aluminum frames like the
SIG, some have steel frames, and other's use the
new kid on the block - POLYMER! :uhoh: I prefer the
SIG, and I can't see myself changing any time soon.

As a self admitted lover of all things CZ...Ill throw this in.
The Sig 220 is among my favorite guns of all time. The one I had for a while shot as well as my STI Trojan did.........They would both easily out shoot me........:D
AlaDan,
I gotta throw a question at ya........Do you really think the 220 is MORE accurate the the CZ97 out of the box...or possibly about the same.
I know how both of mine shot and Id need match ammo and a Ransum rest to really tell...........just curious.
Shoot well.

In my opinion the best double-action .45 ACP on the market, bar none.
The only issue I have with Sigs is the severe spottiness of their triggers.
I've fired and dry fired dozens, if not hundreds, of Sigs of all makes and models over the past 10 years, and have found that roughly 1/3rd have WONDERFUL triggers, 1/3rd have so so triggers, and 1/3rd have triggers that never should have left the factory when compared to he other 2/3rds.
There's no rhyme or reason to it, either. Two new 239s sitting side by side on a table will have VASTLY different trigger pulls.
If you find one with a good or very good trigger pull for a good price, grab it.
I've been looking for a 220 for some years now, and never seem to have the money when I find the gun.

Going completely against the grain, I have one (1) and will not buy another. The one I have is the subject of this thread, the 220. Although the DA trigger pull is very nice, it sometimes doesn't set off primers. The SA pull is creepy and gritty - not the trigger pull of legend or fame.
Even if the trigger pull on my 220 was better, I don't like the high bore axis (felt recoil is greater than with my old Commander) and I don't like and won't carry a gun with two different trigger pulls for the first two (and probably most critical) shots.
Those of you who love the 220, more power to you. I will pass. If I didn't need a SA/DA to demonstrate the action in my classes I'd sell this one.

SIG P220s have a loyal - extremely loyal - fanbase. :D I have a P226 which is the 9mm variant of the P220. The only fly in the ointment, as some have noted above, the trigger reset is excessive in SA mode but the release is good, if it's mushy getting thereto.

Nice gun ? - Yes
Most accurate combat handgun out of the box ? Well that one's a little harder to swallow, as I doubt any tilt barrel design could be more accurate than a Makarov.

Like the man says, "SIGs are like potato chips". One will never be enough. I agree with most posters that the P220 is a great pistol. I have a 220ST and it really "fills the hand" and it is exceptionally accurate. Very nice, substantial, and well made pistols.

The fact that CDNN has some 220 trade ins for under $400 proves very tempting...maybe after i finish my HK .40 "Tactical" Project, especially if i get a good job this summer (hard to make good money as a full time student). I need a .45 and my dad's series 70 gold cup should stay at home more often when we go to the range.

I must admit, you have stumped me with that question! :uhoh:
Truthfully, I have NEVER shot or owned any CZ
handgun's. :( I've read and heard some very good
report's on their firearms; mainly the CZ 75 series.
I would love to test the CZ 97 side by side with a
SIG P220. :D I feel like I know MY particular P220;
and I will assure you it's a WEST GERMAN (1995)
standard production model that HAS NOT been
tweeked in any shape form or fashion. I bought
this P220 NIB on March 31st, 1995; the second
one that I've owned. The original one, I bought
NIB in July of 1988; and I sold it to a fellow LEO
who had started as a "Rookie", and wanted to
graduate up from a Ruger P90. Both guns served
me well in my day's as a LEO. And as I indicated
previously, I still carry my current P220A daily;
even as a citizen, dressed in civillian clothing. ;)
Best Wishes,

I can carry any SA/DA gun in 9, 40 or 45 that I want. I chose a SIG 220A
with nickel slide and have never regreted it since. The reason I chose the
nickel finish? it had a nicer trigger pull (plus it helps with open carry in a
duty holster.) I carry the same gun on my own time as well. The gun is very
accurate, very reliable, easy to clean, fits the hand very well, ect. ect.
In a nutshell, I trust my life to it.
