This historic Colt was carried by a good friend and associate of my father. It was purchased while Ranger Rohatsch was a motorcycle officer in the Texas Highway Patrol. He joined the Rangers in 1935.. I acquired the 1939 photo of Ranger Rohatsch from the Texas State Archives... He and my father, the sheriff of San Patricio County, Texas often worked together during WW II on bank robberies, espionage by German agents and much more.

Sweeeeettttt. I passed up a 1949 Colt .38 Super about six weeks ago. I think I may be regretting it now.

Nice bit of history to go along with a very vintage Colt .38 Super. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Absolutely beautiful! These guns have seen a lot of history.

My father carried a Colt .38 Super like that back in the 1950s during a time of much unpleasantness in the country he was living in. I'm not sure how he packed it (probably just in the waistband), but he never really cared for the size weight of the Government Model. Much preferred his Colt Cobra.

Man I wish I had that .38 Super now.

Nice one.

I have been on the hunt for a good "super 38" for a while.

The best place to buy ammo is probably online, or to reload your own. I've mostly seen it at gun shows and even there it's not especially common to find. A .38 Super/Super .38 1911 is a real sweet gun to shoot though!
