My friend recently purchased a new Glock 22 Gen4. With his purchase he was supplied a cable lock. He insists upon wrapping it around the factory plastic case and calling it "secure". I have suggested that he run the lock through the ejection port and down through the magwell just to be on the safe side. He keeps coming back with "Keeping the springs compressed will wear them out faster." Is this true or is he just full of it?

Absolutely not. Through the mag well is the proper use of a cable lock.
