I have been looking for a kahr pm9 for a few weeks now. I have been really wanting a blacj diamind model, but I am trying to go as cheap as possible. In order to go cheap im lioking for used ftf so that I can skip out on retail price, tax, and ffl. I am getting impatient trying to find a black diamond but I have ran into a two tone one in like new condition for 500. Is it worth purchasing that and then refinishing it so that I can end up with an all black one or should I just keep waiting out to buy an all black one from the start?

I wanted an all black PM40, I found a really good deal on a two tone one. It is still two tone, lives most of it's life in a holster anyway.

It's a good deal, but not enough to cover a professional refinish. My suggestion is to live with the two tone or find the one you want.

That is a good price for a PM9. Take it and if you find the black diamond one you can sell the two tone for what you have in it. They are great pistols.

500 is a great price, assuming its in good condition. I paid 630 NIB. The cost of refinishing is likely to be over 100 so I don't think it will save you anything. It's going to end up costing the same, if not more.

Why are you so stuck on the black diamond. If you get the stainless steel one, like mine, you don't have to worry about holster wear on the finish.

I want the all black mostly because I think it looks so good, and also because it might make alittle bit of a diff in concealing

Well I said the heck with it and went to my local gun shop today, they had just gotten in an all black pm9 after an 8 week back order and I said what the heck ill take it, so I was out the door for 700. More than I wanted to spend, but I for the life of me couldnt find a used black diamond pm9 localy and I didnt want to buy 2 tone even if it was 200 cheaper because its not what I wanted and I would rather just spend the money than always be wishing.

desert gator:
You will enjoy it.
Be aware most do a clean and prelube before going to the range.
Re-installing the slide stop pin is tricky and can damage the small frame mounted spring.
There is a lube chart at most Kahr sub-forums or go here:
Kahrtalk.com
The Kahr site also has videos for take down, etc.
http://www.kahr.com/index.html

Little guns have stiff recoil springs and I have found racking the slide a couple hundred times wearing work gloves, mag out, helps settle things and the 1st reliability test session go smoothly.
You will be impressed with your new gun.
