Oh how bitter sweet

I discover yester day when I went to reach for my SOG Sculptura pocket knife it wasn't there. I had lost it before but I was always able to find it under my Jeep seat, it would pop off my pocket when I pulled my keys out. Well this time it wasn't there, it wasn't in the pants I wore the day before either, in fact it wasn't anywhere I looked. I sorta felt like I had lost a good friend. I still have my hopes that I will run across it, but untill then, here is the sweet part, I'd need to get a new knife. So after looking for awhile, settled on a Kershaw 1640 Vapor (http://www.1sks.com/images/kershaw/ks-1640-1650.jpg), but I picked up the plain edge, I don't care much for serrated edges. It seems like a good knife and Wally World was selling them for 20 bucks. It quite a bit bigger than my SOG, by the way here is a picture of it,http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-4/148376/WSJKZWMGWGTSZPSXQKEC-STYER%20&%20SOG2.JPG but it's thinner and is still short enough to be comfortabe. I think the size of the SOG is part of what attributed to it lost. Anyone else carry one of these Kershaws or can maybe join in my country song of sorts about a man and the loss of his knife? ;)

I was just looking at that very knife at Wally World today. First off, I was surprised they were carrying Kershaw (a pleasant surprise).

From what I saw, it looked to be a solid knife.

After misplacing my Benchmade Stryker several times, I know how frustrating that can be.
I bought this CRKT Point Guard after I thought I lost my Stryker a while back.

Thanks Snowdog, sorry to hear about your Stryker, those Benchmades are not cheap, (but I am, or maybe just frugel:D). I was bidding on that same CRKT on ebay, but kept getting out bid, I guess someone wanted it pretty bad.

I haven't lost a knife yet, well not a defensive/utility folder anyway (a few cheap Swiss Army Knives).

However, I have a Kershaw Vapor II (the half serrated version) clipped to my pocket as I write this. For a while I had been carrying a Kershaw Scallion and really liked it. However, with MD laws I wasn't so sure how the police would take it if something actually happened with the "assisted opening" Scallion (it is legal here, but w/ the way some cops around here are I'd probably have to work that out later after a night or two in jail). Also, I didn't like the idea of only having one folder that I could use (what if it got lost). So I bought the Vapor II. I really like it. When opening it wasn't that smooth at first, but some oil and some practice presentations and it is really nice now. The blade is a great size for winter (in a self defense situation the longer blade still allows stabs through winter clothing and I'm not so limited to slashes at exposed flesh as I would be with the shorter Scallion). The only thing that bothers me is with the plain metal handle I worry that if it got too wet it might get slippery (I'd much prefer it to have some kind of textured plastic or rubberized handle).
