Made myself a new range toy

I've been wanting a fun gun for the range. I have several 1911's that are working guns but I wanted one that was just for pure pleasure. I started with a Springfield 1911 A1 Loaded. I added an Ed Brown beveled magwell and back strap. Next I added a set of Hogue square bottom grips, a Clark 5 1/2" barrel and muzzle brake. I finished it off with a set of Wolff springs.
I am amazed at how little recoil she has and how accurate the gun is. The Clark barrel fit like a glove with no issues. The recoil spring I have settled on is a 13 lb spring. This was a fun project that was only a few hundred dollars to complete and now I have a super accurate 1911 that makes fast follow up shots a breeze.

She shoots great I am very happy with how she turned out. I think this one will be one of my favorite range toys!

Your range toy turned out very nice. I have a SA M1911 that I have been thinking about modifying for the very same purpose. I especially like the Clark barrel and compensator set-up.

I like.
I added.. the Wilson barrel bushing / muzzle brake. I like it. I have a feeling the Clark intergral barrel / brake is a bit nicer.

Shhhhhh your FLGR is showing. ;)

I tried a barrel bushing brake and felt it did not do a whole lot for the gun. I can tell you the recoil difference is like night and day comparing the two different types. I had to go much lighter on the recoil spring to get her functioning correctly

I highly reccomend it! Installation was super easy. I would reccomend a Wolff calibration kit to figure out which recoil spring you will need.
