Does anyone have experience with removing the blind magizine on Savages? I have a old 110 LA and it has a 223 magizine, which Id like to replace after I rechambered it for a 6.5x55 but for the life of me cant figure out how to remove it.

It's in there tight - IIRC I used a hard rubber mallet on the front corner to pop mine loose. You don't want to bend it though.

Clamp the action in a vise with the mag box up. Use an old flat blade screwdriver and a rubber mallet. Hold the tip of the screwdriver at the bottom rear of the magbox and smack the handle with the rubber mallet while you pry up at the same time. Sounds harder than it really is. One smack should do it.

Some guys also use a tool to squeeze the magbox, ala large channel locks with tape on the jaws to protect the magbox's finish
