I saw this pistol in a gun store advertisement. I don't know anything
about them; are they OK or should I run away? This is strictly a fun gun by the way.

Do a google search on them, I know a couple of people who have had some problems with them and had to send them in a few times. They are made for high velocity ammo and tend to not function as well with cheap stuff. Still have some good reviews out there as well.

The Chiappa has about as much in common with a real 1911, as an Airsoft 1911 clone has.
If you want a .22 caliber 1911, the GSG1911 is the much more exact representation, for just a few bucks more than the Chiappa. With the exception of the slide, barrel and magazine (obviously), the GSG1911 shares most if its parts with any other standard 1911.
A better invesment would be get a real 1911 and a conversion slide for .22, but it's your money. I had a GSG firearm briefly, it was like a firing replica, metals involved were not going to stand the test of time, dumped it on a stranger.

+2 on the GSG, nice gun, good quality, set up exactly like my duty gun. Mine runs great and is very accurate. I see no reason the gun shouldn't hold up. They run about 10-15% more than the Chiappa but they're well worth it.
