H&K P30 the best 9mm for SD in current market!

In my opinion:

HKP30 out classes all current production 9mm pistols in the SD category. Ergonomically it is far superior and accuracy is just great right out of the box. It is completely ambidextrous and feels great in hand. It aims naturally well, night sights and auto mag release is nice little. Plus points.

Until something else comes out - I will be shooting this contraption and will carry it on regular basis.

Regards

The gun is to expensive and the mags are to expensive.

Others IMO equal performance and don't cost as much.

HK is a great gun and enjoy it but I will pass the the HK as others can do the the same SD role for less.

For someone with small hands, like me, it is a very preferable weapon. The interchangeable straps that can make it easier to grip, plus the ambidextrous mag release is far easier to use if one's thumbs aren't big enough for the usual push-button release. When I get them money, I plan on getting one.

HK makes some fine guns.
I own a couple SIGs that I think are real fine.
I bought a Ruger SR9c and I really think that is my best SD gun.
Smaller, lighter and LESS expensive....... (By a lot vis my SIG's & HK) :what:

So it is ALL in one's mind and hand what is the Best for THEM!
If there was a perfect gun why would any one make anything else?

So for you HK is the best, me another and someone else thinks XXX is best. :banghead:

Yeah, they are nice handguns, well designed and well made.

BTW, I like your signature (the first line).

I've shot one a few times. Not particularly impressed, especially for the price. I would say my favorite is the S&W 5906. Hard to beat solid stainless steel.

After trying several 9mm's for CCW, I also found the HK P30 V1 to be the best for me. It is my primary EDC. In my opinion, the quality of the P30 is worth the additional cost.

Couldn't agree more, BEST semi-auto SD pistol on the market, hands down. And yes I also have a Block, I mean Glock :), for all those that say other weapons do the same for less.

The trigger pull is horrible, long, gritty and hard. The reset is unnecessarily long. Add to that, the high bore axis, maximizing torque in the hand during recoil.

But at least, they're over priced...........

I have a P-30 and it is probably the last gun I'd sell if I had to dump all mine.

That says it all.

Fine gun, very fine gun. A guy at the range had one. I shot it before and after my HK P7M8. I let him shoot the P7. He wanted to trade. I wasn't used to the long single action take up after shooting my P7. I'm sure I'd get used to it. In a double stack 9MM, I just don't see any advantage over my CZ-75D PCR compact.

There is a little bit of a difference between owning a Glock and running Glock from my standpoint, saying that "the P30 is the best handgun on the market" is like saying that nobody could ever out shoot it in competition.

The gun is only as good as the person operating it, in my case that POS Glock 17 is the best 9mm on the market.

Actually it is the best 9mm in my hand, don't get me wrong I think HK's are awesome, I love the way the USP's fit my hand like a glove, but I have more respect for the Glocks for many reasons.

Actually, the P30 is absolutely worthless to me, as I do not own one and can't very well practice SD with a gun I don't own.

The Glock would be my best bet and would therefore be the best 9mm from my point of view, as I do own one and I can make it do a lot of things, actually it does very simialar things to the P30, like shoot to point of aim, kill threats, put holes in things, etc....

Just a quick jab, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't my Glock 17 hold 2 more rounds in the standard mag?

HKP30 out classes all current production 9mm pistols in the SD category. Wow, what a blanket statement! What is the "SD" category? Also, OP have you fired an extensive amount of rounds through every pistol in this so called "SD" category? If not your statement is false and therefore another opinion of an HK fanboy, kinda like the whatever I have is the greatest attitude.

Shoot more, type less and diversify.

I had one for about 800 rounds. It was fine. Nothing spectacular about the trigger. As others have mentioned the DA trigger is long and stiff. The SA has a longer than necessary take up and is not what I would call crisp. These are not deal killers but compared to a BHP or 1911 in 9mm the trigger is not in the same league. Even my surplus CZ82 has a nicer trigger than the P30. The P30 is accurate enough for a self defense gun if the shooter can do their part but accuracy is never really an issue at self defense ranges. If you cannot hit something within 8 yards with a 4" barrel you have no business carrying a handgun for self defense. I found the P30 overly large for is 15 round capacity. I consider it a vast improvement over the USP which felt like a brick in my hand. I have bought a few HKs in my day but the only ones that stay are the P7s. The others get shot and then sold for what I paid for them. Nothing really wrong with them they are just not for me.

In the end to me they are just another piece of tactical plastic. There are so many good full sized 9mm guns on the market. To declare one "the best" makes me laugh. Sometimes its best to be quiet and be thought a fool then open up ones mouth repeatedly and remove all doubt. :) Almost everything that makes one gun better than another is subjective. It is all about the matting of the individual and the gun that makes one the best for a particular shooter. What works for me might not work for you. Unless you have my hands, my training, my preferences etc... I do not think you can speak to what is "best" for me or anyone else for that matter.

I also think that the P30 and HKs in general are way over priced. There are so many quality guns available for a lot less. For example the Sig SP2022 which I think has a better smoother DA trigger and just as clean of a SA trigger. The HK P30 did nothing for me that my Sig SP2022 couldn't do for about half the price. So I sold it and bought another BHP.

I'm happy to hear that you're happy, as is everyone else I'm sure.

Having confidence with your SD firearm is quite important, so it sounds like you found what's right for you. I feel the same way about both my 9mm carry handguns (Kahr K9 and Bersa UC9). Enjoy!

Best self defense pistol available? Bold statement.

I'm going to be honest, I have tried to love Hk's, and I shot pretty well with my friend's USP9... but every time I use those stupid tiny lever mag releases I think to myself "what were they thinking?" :banghead:

I feel exactly the same about Sig P226's in 9mm.

I've owned many poly's including HK's but I've found I like greased full length railed metal framed guns e.g. Sig P's and 1911's.

I find them to be a more pleasurable experience to shoot and in the case of the P Series, no less accurate, durable, or reliable.

Wow, what a blanket statement!
He's only 12 posts in but it's already apparent that blanket statements are No one's favorite kind of statements to make.
