I have no clear favorite how about you?

I am talking about a clear cut favorite between the S&W 686 and Ruger GP100. I have both in stainless with a 4 inch barrel and would like to name one a favorite, but I just can not do it. The 686 has a better single action trigger, but the GP100 feels better in my hand. They both are very accurate and recoil is not a problem with either. I like the 686's rear sights better but favor the GP100 front sight. I guess I'll have to keep both:rolleyes: If someone can tell me why I should favor one over the other, I sure would like to hear it:confused:

In stock configuration? I favor the 686. Even tuned, I use a 686.

However...while both can be tuned to be a very sweet gun, the GP100 has really impressed me lately.

Right here in your own great state of NC, a revo shooter just classified as the 15th USPSA revolver Grand Master...and the first to do it with a .357 and speedloaders shooting minor PF. His choice of gun? GP100. He knows a lot about both, but makes a strong case for a tuned GP100. I shot it, and it's smoooth. Got me thinkin'...

Competition shooting is hard on revolvers, and pushes them to their limit, so if you're gonna use it hard, then, the durability of the GP100 is an added bonus.

All this being said, there's a lot to be said about a gun that simply feels good in your hand.

My favorite would be the GP 100 with old grips.

Love the push button cylinder release

Love the rubber grips WITHOUT finger grooves.

Love the perfect (for my hand ergonomics)

Love the weight -- makes even the hottest 200 grain black bear loads feel like you are shooting a pea shooter.

With this said, I have to say I like the 686 too. To me the 686 - especially the pre-lock ones, have superior SA and DA trigger. But trigger alone isn't enough.

Ruger GP 100 all the way for me.
