I have one chambered in 50 action express, not 357 magnum. It's a very accurate gun and pretty too. It's finicky about what ammo it feeds. Hotter loads that burn up all of the powder are the only way to go. Lighter loads will clog the gas system with unburned powder. It really is a novelty gun. If you buy it in that spirit, you might really enjoy it. Despite what the movies show, it's virtually useless as a self-defense gun.

My son owned one in .357 for a while.

It was without a doubt the most accurate .357 I have ever shot at long range.
We often would plink hedge apples off the trees at 100 yards.
It functioned 100& with hot handloads using jacketed bullets.
No lead bullets due to the gas system.

With that said.
It was so big it took both hands to operate the safety & other controls.
And so heavy carrying it in a belt holster for any length of time was out of the question.

IMO: They should all come equipped with trail-legs and wheels, just like the old army pack howitzers.

Get the .44 Rem Mag version if you're going to buy a DE. Recoil is about the same, and you may as well get the power as long as you're going to drag around all that weight.
I traded my .357 DE in on a Freedom Arms model 97 (small frame), no regrets.
