According to Norma's web site, Cabela's is a distributor, got one near by, give them a call. I order my Norma from Powder Valley.

Alliant's Reloader 22 is the same powder with just a slightly different coating. Loading data would be essentially the same, and it is MUCH more readily available.

Ha, been there, JimKirk. Yes, MRP indeed is what im after. Whats an example of the powders you mentioned that are of different labels?

USSR, RL-22 is what i currently have for the reason you mentioned. These will be the first loads i have done for this gun and caliber (300 Wby.) On a Weatherby forum i joined, the MRP powder is the only way to go for that caliber in the opinion of many but they also recgonize the RL-22 as being nearly identical. I have four test groups of RL-22 loaded and ready to go right now but i had always intended on getting my hands on MRP to compare the two since i was under the impression it worked the best. I know i should just probably test what i have first. Honestly i will admit that if i find the velocity to be as advertised in the manuals that i took data from and if one group is sub moa then there is no reason to keep looking.

I reload for about 50% enjoyment/hobby and %50 increased performance and really none for cost because im not a high volume shooter but that said, i can purchase RL-22 locally and with no other choice but to order Norma (i did find it in stock at powder valley), i realized its about $25 extra for hazmat shipping and that just seems like a waste of money.

Thanks for your comments, guys.

R-22 may be the "same" as MRP, but it sure doesn't perform the same. I have both and MRP out performs my current lot of R-22 hands down. Hell, R-22 is so inconsistent from lot-to-lot it's not even the same powder as R-22.

hmm. yeah, that brings me back to test MRP before i settle. Its a gamble really because i can buy up several pounds of the same lot all at once, hoping that lot works but if it doesent, well im out close to 100 bucks, maybe a little less.

Although i dont know that it can be %100 proven but i have heard some claim MRP is in factory loaded Weatherby ammo. Some have disassembled factory loads and i guess they just base that off of physical characteristics. More times than not, i read factory ammo uses a proprietary blend that is not offered to the public.

All the same, i will test what i have now but i suspect i will eventually order a pound or two of MRP. With the case volume of the 300 Wby, a pound can be used up fast, especially with initial load testing.

Seeing as how Georgia is the largest state east of the Mississippi River, the location "in Georgia" is still pretty wide open. Why not put a city in your profile for us?

In the north end, I'd try Davids Gun Room (Norcross) or Shooters World Direct (Braselton). SWD is just cranking up their reloading, but they are bending over backwards to capture business. I've been very pleased.

It was RL 22 that I had in mind too... I think there some others, but I can't find my link to it, sorry.

Been having that morning blindness quite regular lately... I think it has some to do with age!!!

Which WBY caliber do you have?

Powder Valley has it in stock!!

I may be wrong , but I think Reloder 15 is the same as Norma 203

rfwobbly, im in middle Ga although for work, i frequently travel the whole state. If the Davids gun room you are refering to is the same as the one in Norcross off Buford Hwy., then im familiar with its location. So they carry MRP?
