Hello folks! Its finally here!GSG5 1911 in 22lr!!its almost 1 1/2 year since i got wind of this pistol,I even called ATI just to ask when this thing is gonna be in the market and at that time the ATI guy told me they just finished the pro-type.1st impression, it does feel like a 1911, the weight is pretty close to one, all the functions is same as a 1911, thumb safety, grip safety and it even locks on an empty mag,I have not shot it yet but I will ASAP!!.It came with 2 extra front sights which is not that hard to replace, disassembly is pretty straight forward.I just cleaned and now here she is..

Congrats. It's an amazing, and fun pistol.
Since it's a relatively hard-to-find gun, and I've only come across a couple who have it, there's not a lot of info about it. So here's a bit of my personal experience on its personality quirks in case you find it helpful:
* It doesn't seem to like WWB or Remington Golden ammo. CCI mini mag feeds and fires perfectly. On my next range trip i'm going to try out some Federal bulk.
* The rubber washer on the recoil spring guide rod will be trashed after about 1000-2000 rounds. You can just replace it with a rubber faucet washer (i don't recall the size offhand, but just pick one that looks the same size. You may want to sand it so it's not as fat though). Haven't had a single issue with it. Thanks to another forum member for this recommendation (i forget who, i'll give proper credit later)
* The recoil spring is tapered and narrower on one end. Be sure the narrower end is against the metal washer (fat end toward the muzzle). If you reverse it, it'll misbehave.
* I've heard from one other that the cheap pot metal barrel bushing broke, sending the spring flying. Haven't had this happen to me, but I think i'm going to drop in a regular steel 1911 bushing just to be safe.
This gun is in my bag with EVERY trip to the range. Love it. :) Hopefully you will too!

Mine only came with one set of sights, on the gun. So I can't really help you there. I'm pretty happy with them, but curious what the other sights are like.
Are they just different elevations? Or style, color, etc?
I wrote to ATI to see if i was supposed to receive extras.

After shooting 1700 rounds through my GSG1911 my barrel bushing finally broke:( as expected! I already called ATI last tuesday so it should be here sometime next week, for the meantime I used the barrel bushing of my RIA so i can use it again. Here is a quick video with the temporary barrel bushing..Did not have any problems of any kind..

good looking pistol. 8000 rounds and only a couple of busted bushings and a few jams due to laziness ;). cant complain too much about that!

Just got one of these, hope it runs good.
I don't see how to take it down or any extra sites. Just came with some kind of lube.
Fit and finish is tops. Can't wait to shoot it.

Aargh!! I think I have to send my GSG to ATI! Its acting weird, it wont load when I rack the slide, the bullet gets hang-up somewhere, then if i chamber a round,i can shoot it but it wont cycle enough to load the next round(it does kick out the psent casing),then it will do thesame thing again. this just started yesterday, I even cleaned it yesterday after my range session..any suggestions??I'll post a picture of whats happening later..

Yikes, haven't had that happen on mine.
Definitely post a follow-up for the rest of us, if you find out what went wrong. Thanks.

Wow, that's strange. I'm interested in seeing what ATI has to say about this malfunction too. I haven't been able to shoot mine very often. How many rounds have you put through it?

If your GSG 1911 has the alloy bushing, you need not wait for it to break before calling the importer's customer service department. All you have to do is tell them you have a gun with the alloy bushing and they will mail you a stainless unit right away. I got mine less than 7 days after calling and I hadn't even fired the gun yet.
