I have a series 70 combat commander .45acp. The thing functions fine with the exception of the brass being ejected goes up and then back down on top of my head or down the back of my shirt. I would rather it go out to the left away from me. What could I do to fix it? I have two other 1911 pistols that do not do this. I was hoping this would be something I could fix myself as a gunsmith is far and few between in my area.

Check out www.1911forum.com

Very nice people and you might even get your questions answered:)

I'm certain some slight tuning of the ejector will do the job. I don't know how to do this, but the above link will help.

Buy a copy of Jerry Kunhausen's book "Gunsmithing the Colt Automatic pistols".
He goes into great detail on adjusting the extractor and ejector on the 1911.

Basically, you can adjust how the 1911 ejects brass by "tuning" the ejector and extractor, and this will show you how it's done.
