Came across a YHM-15 Diamond Spectre AR-15. I was impressed, but could not find any reviews or comments. Anyone own one, or get to play with one?

YHM == Yankee Hills Machine

I have used some of their bits with great satisfaction but never bought a complete rifle from them.

Google YHM-15 Diamond Spectre AR-15 and you'll find some info on it. I'm not into AR15 type rifles to know if their specs are top of the line or not.

Their products seem to be of pretty good quality. Of course DD, Troy, etc... make "better" rails than them. But YHM is one of the better aftermarket manufacturers.

As for the rifles themselves I have no clue. But based off the specs on their website here are my thoughts (take it with a grain of salt, or the whole shaker, I'm a self proclaimed genius :p)

Everything such as lower and upper seem to be in good shape. The barrel is not chrome lined or 4150 steel. The bolt says it is "mil-spec" but they do not mention if they high pressure and magnetic particle test it.

These observations are based off "The Chart", if you do not plan on running this thing incredibly hard (1,000 or more rounds in a few days) in a carbine course I think you will be perfectly fine with a good shooting and great looking AR. Remember that the chart is only for mil-spec and that is only important if you want to run the rifle to hell and back on a weekend.

If you can get the rifle for a good price, and don't plan on working it too hard, I say go for it. If you do pick it up tell us how it runs.

Yankee Hill Machine makes good stuff and their barrels are chrome lined like it says on their web sight. I have a YHM 16 inch upper on my AR and it shoots what ever ammo I put in it. It is also more accurate than I expected. YHM has a good reputation and I don't think you will regret buying their products.
