I've narrowed it down to two.

A SA, and a HRA.

CZGuy that first one is a very very cool looking wood!

why would someone collect garands (not trying to sound mean or stupid, I was just curious exactly why)

I have one, no plans for more.

Everyone should have one, who am I to hoard?

Probably a couple, I'm going to be ordering my first from CMP soon. My interests and collection vary so widely I don't see myself having more than 2-3 of any example. I rather have a good Garand, M14, SVT40, G43, FN49, Sig510, Mas 49/56 etc; than 20 Garands.

Their are to many interesting rifles out their to collect to own 20 of one example.

Same reason people collect anything.

People could want different dates of production, different manufacturers, to have different cartouches, consecutive serial numbers etc etc.

Probably a gas trap, then you have the sniper models. Some folks even place a premium on low serial #'s. One of my SA's is a 6 digit.

Six digit. June 1941.

I'll take some new pics; this one has some milage on it.

At present I only have ten & plain on stopping. All have come from the CMP with the exception of one NM model that was obtained from a retired AF Col. widow. She just wanted it out of the house. Sound Familure ?

Good question, OP!

I may not ever have a good reason to get another (which doesn't mean I won't); I got a great shooter from the CMPwhich was all I was after, and the Danish stock has lots of character so I don't really have an excuse there either.

I guess I may go for a 'nice' one (Service grade or better) in H&R one day...

Have 3: SA, HRA, and WRA. Can't afford a IH, so I'll just stick with what I've got. Have a friend that has 50+ Garands.

Just wanted one at first, then decided I should try to get one of each maker while they were still available. Now I'm done, except there is this lovely Beretta M1 I saw the other day... ;-)

Also, here's a Gas Trap (http://www.collectorsfirearms.com/admin/product_details.php?itemID=23511) for anyone who's interested in seeing (or buying) one. Way, way too rich for my blood.

Thanks for the info on the gas trap Garand.

Wow, for price of that gas trap one could buy an NFA weapon (or a few) AND a decent used car :what:

I have just one. It's a Springfield Armory with its original 6/44-dated barrel. I think it's a cool barrel date, and it's getting harder to get them with original barrels anyway. It's likely the only one I'll get.

One Garand and will stay there, I want too many other old guns to get more than one of each.

That's not going to happen. There's a bit more involved than you think.

Right, but those aren't new production (well, his work is new, the receiver is GI, as are other parts to my knowledge) and I seriously doubt that he is selling stuff at Sportsman Warehouse, especially since he only makes very limited numbers each year.

Most of us are familiar with Shuff's Mini-G. I doubt they are stocking them at SW...

There are also many bubba tankers out there collecting dust.

I have 6, one of which is a .308. A local gunsmith who has been at the collecting thing for years had over 70 at last count. I think if he lives long enough he'll top 100.

In my perfect world, I'd have three. One in WWII configuration. One in KW configuration. And one in 7.62mm.

In my won-the-lottery-perfect world, I'd have shooters and "showers" and likely at least one SAI 18" shorty, plus at least one to display the M7A3 grenade launcher upon.

Were I in that happy state, I'd likely add a couple AR's in the mix, too, at least one in VN-era appearance, and some sort of M-4. And at least the one Johnson rifle. Then, a couple more M1 carbines.
