I am looking to buy a rossi model 971 made in 1995. It's a 2.5 in barrel and a interarms import for $150. Is that a good deal?

Back in 1976, they were not a very good quality firearm, but times change. You get what you pay for, IMO :) Only way to know is buy it and try it.

I agree with 243winexp comments about the Rossi. Been there, done that.

I bought my wife a M721 44spl around 1993 or 94, and the cylinder wouldn't turn in DA after firing a few rounds. LGS returned it to Rossi who replaced it with one that worked fine, but the point is that in my experience, functional quality was not consistent. Finish and firing was fine, but it wouldn't function. If you can get a brief period to try it out, I would do that and make sure it runs...

I've used a 971 made in 2001 for IPSC competition and it's an excellent, accurate firearm. For $150, you're getting a bargain, assuming it checks out OK.

I had a 971 2". Excellent Gun. I used it in my CCW class. I took it apart to clean and it seemed to be a quality built gun. The only reason I sold it was the adjustable sights bit my love handles. It was easier to buy a fixt sighted gun than loose weight. It handled 357 ammo no sweat.
