My favorite gun is my old West German Sig P226 9 mm. I usually shoot only in SA. The DA pull is too long and heavy and I can't reach it well with a decent, sustainable grip. In SA, it's perfect. Would a SRT do the trick? And would you do that to your favorite gun if it was old and irreplaceable? It's in perfect operating condition otherwise.

I don't think SRT reduces the length or weight of the DA pull.

Short Reset Trigger package This service retrofits your standard DA/SA trigger parts with a SRT system from our popular Elite, SAS Gen II, E2 and Tactical models. The SA mode trigger reset travel is reduced by 60% allowing for faster follow-up shots and rapid fire use. (Excludes SAO/DAK, P250, Mosquito, SigPro, P230/P232 models) $99.95

Do you have a "short" (actually thinner from front to back and narrower in width) trigger fitted? This will reduce the reach to the trigger slightly. Perhaps in conjunction with the Action Enhancement Package ...
Action Enhancement Package Our factory gunsmiths hone and polish critical surfaces to lighten and smooth both the double-action and single-action trigger pulls taking your SIG SAUER to the next level without voiding the factory warranty. (Excludes SP2009, SP2340, SP2022, 226X5, Mosquito, P238, P250 and 1911 models. Improvements are not as pronounced in our DAK trigger system and not generally recommended for DAK's). $169.95
... this might give you what you're looking for.

The SRT definitely won't have the desired effect...it doesn't make the trigger pull shorter or lighter.

The Short trigger (short refers to short reach) will make the the reach to the face of the trigger shorter. The E2 enhancements might also help with the deeper contoured backstrap and mainspring strut.

The AEP might work if you just want it smoothed a bit. If you are interested in having the action optimized, take a look at www.GrayGuns.com. They are the finest Sig tuners in the world...and they are not that far from you

Okay, good info. Any other Sig enthusiast think this might be an unholy thing to do to a West German Sig? There are only so many of them and mine is sweet. I can shoot it in SA well but I'm considering it for training and IDPA as well. Maybe I just have a unnatural attachment to this Sig. It has history.
