Colt Light Rifle (Bolt Action) Question

Hey guys.
I have been looking for a good bolt action rifle for some time now, and I have just come across a Colt light (or maybe ultralight) Rifle in 30-06 in CDNN's catalog for a fairly low price. I did not even know that Colt made such an animal.
So, what can you tell me about Colt bolt actions? Are they good, bad, average, or made by another company with a Colt logo stamped on? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.

They only made 6000, they owner of the company (ultra light rifles?)Colt bought out bought his design back and is making them again. The Colts were recalled for having a FP that was installed incorrectly so that it rested on the primer.
It will probably be a collector's item down the road with such low production and the Colt name on it.

Found this blurb posted:
: Colt light rifle was spin off of the ultralight
: arms rifles by melvin forbes in wva. He sold
: rights to colt, they botched manufacturing
: up and never could get them right,
: particularily the stocks. His rifles sell
: for about $2600. Everyone is calling him now
: to find parts for the colts. Colt never
: bought the spare parts from the party that
: made them. no parts and only two minor parts
: interchange with the UL rifles. He is trying
: to buy all the spare parts if colt or their
: manufacturer can find them. seems they lost
: them. If you can keep it ticking should be
: ok, if not contact Melvin Forbes at
: Ultralight arms and pray he was able to buy
: the parts if they found them, if not the
: part will have to be handmade. Had two of
: his UL20s in 7mm/08 and they were greatest,
: someone else wanted them more than me and
: made obscene offers so they have them.
: Looking for another. Do web search for Ultra
: light arms, not same but similar. His rifles
: premium barrels and much more precision in
: mftr. good luck!
Sounds like something to buy in the hopes it is a collectible, rather than a shooter.

Sounds like I should stay away from that one. I want a rifle that I can shoot, not just collect.
Thanks again.

Just for general info, I won a Colt Light Rifle in .300 Win Mag and it is a great rifle. The recall referred to in the forum only applied to some of the calibers made by colt. The 300 was not one of them but the .30-06 was. Can't remember how many others were affected.

Gander Mountain had a couple of them on sale for $399. One in .30-06, and one in .300 Win Mag. Couldn't see shooting a big magnum out of such a light rifle, so I gravitated towards the .30-06. I was gonna go put it on layaway once I confirmed the Fleyderman's Blue Book prices. Maybe not, now. :(

i was saving for one of the originals in .284 when colt bought the company...i held off, thinking the price had to be less when mass production started...QC went down and oppurtunity was lost
:(
