I just aquired 110 shells but don't shoot it. The brass is in used condition and tumbled. Looks to be once fired, no split cases or dents. Is it fair to trade 1 piece for 2 pieces 45 ACP ?

Thanks for any help.

I'd say so. maybe even 1:3 or 4. 45 acp brass is all over every range I have ever been to. I've found maybe 3 44 mag cases ever. but different strokes for different folks. somebody else may have had the opposite experience.

Is it all the same headstamp? If so, what it the brand?

BTW, new brass prices for .45 ACP and .44 Rem Mag are almost the same. For example, Starline sells both for $84.55 per 500. Wideners prices for Remington brass are about the same for both calibers. MidwayUSA charges $144.99 for 500 Winchester .45 ACP versus $124.99 for 500 Winchester .44 Mag.

I wouldn't personally trade (2) .45 ACP for (1) .44 Mag, and I load both calibers.

speaking of starline, my buddy called starline directly and they gave him a much better price on 500 cases than midway. I don't know the exact numbers, but he said the savings was significant.

A couple that sets up at the local gun shows must do this as they sell Starline 44M brass for $18/100 .

Thanks for the information. The brass is mixed, WW Super, Fedral, R.P 44 Rem Mag.

I agree with post #2. If you are buying new brass that is a different story but, I have yet to find any 44mag brass at the gun club and have found 1000's of 45acp there. I load both and would put much higher value on the 44mag.

i buy 44 mag casing from a range near here and i usually pay around 4-5 dollars a box of 50 to be reloaded and i try to get as much as they have each time i go there -not counting 357,30-06,30-30 and 38 special haven't seen any 44 special yet will get some of them too and as for 12 gage shells the local gun club that has skeet and trap they just give away 55 gal.barrels of once fired shells i have enough to reload at least 10,000 rds. there (so far) i load the 12 gage with BB,s and i cast all my other bullets too

.....you do not have to call Starline, you can just go to their website and order it. You just can't order it by the hundred. Most calibers are 500 minimum except for the big bores and they are 250 minimum. Shipping and handling is free, so this is where you save the most. Most times when I ordered from them and the brass was back-ordered, it came much earlier than the expected dates they gave.
