I love handguns and I've got the bug and the funds for a new one. I don't have a lot of money and buy a gun every two years or so. I've got, Browning Buckmark 22, Ruger SBH 41 and 44, Ruger Gp100 357, and my nightstand sweetheart is a sig P229r 40.
I'm Looking at a Kimber Eclips Target II (I would like to have all the 4's someday). There's one at the local gun shop and it's calling me. I'm not so into the fancy finish but it's got everything else I want. Please talk me into it or tell me why I should wait and keep shopping. Thanks Rick.
PS: I don't have a problem; I can quit any time I want.

If you like Sigs you owe it to yourself to check into a P220. With that kind of funding look at a P220 Combat with G-10 grips. Now that is one mean .45.

Bye the way, don't be a quitter.

Uh, admit you are powerless over your addiction and buy a safe? That's what I did. They multiply in the safe. Magically. So do the holsters. I think I've gone 30 days....no wait, I bought a Kahr K9. But I had a really good reason. Does that count?

Just what makes you think any of us are going to let you off the hook and suffer alone. I have had the affliction now for 45 years. At least they don't depreciate over time, that's always a good excuse to tell the wife!

I have more than a few 1911s, if you like your SIG P229, you will love the SIG 1911s, my favorite, SIG 1911 RCS Nitron, it may become my daily carry weapon after another 2-3 thousand trouble free round run through it. I do have to caution you about buying any 1911, they are very habit forming, you also have to store them seperately or they will breed and multiply while your check book burns. I have Colt, Springfield, SIG and STI so far, have a Les Baer in my sights now, or maybe another STI or SIG or...

The only cure is to make a clean break. Because I'm concerned for your mental health I want you to send me all your pistols asap. You know what they say; out of sight, out of mind.
:neener:

You knew someone would be going there so I figured it might as well be me.

I've said this before, and I'll say it now. If you have to log onto a gun board and ask complete strangers to talk you into or out of buying a gun, then you basically don't know what you want. Make up your own mind. Buying or selling a gun based on someone else's say-so is a recipe for regret.

Thanks folks. I didn't really want help with my "problem". I've pretty much decided it's gonna come home with me. Just looking for some feedback if one of you owned one. Rick

And who exactly is supposed to help the rest of us I ask? I'm a sucker for German built handguns and American built handguns and... ;)

I really screwed up when I saw that Colt Python in the gun case:banghead:, how it knew where I lived, I'll never know. It did inform a cousin though, because 3 months after the Python slithered in the door, a S&W 629-1 came panting in the door also. That was 20 years ago...... I went with a friend into a pawn shop 2 months ago, "Just gonna look", right? I now have a Beretta 1935 .32 auto that jumped into my back pocket as I walked out of there.

God, grant me the serenity to......

I'm going to suggest that you keep looking. You say you're not into the fancy finish ... well nor am I ... and that's quite a lot to pay for a pistol that you're not completely sold on? I do like the stainless slide and stainless frame but would like it a whole lot more if the slide was painted black or something. If you like many of the features on the ETII I'd suggest you look for a Tactical Entry II or at least one without the "fancy finish".

Just my $0.02.

I'll take a vow of astinence to not buy a gun for 30 days! After that, I'm gonna be fondling a lot of 1911s. I even walked into a gun store today and didn't touch a gun once. Oh wait, that was the second gun store. In the first gun store I saw a KC date proofed Sig P226 9mm that I popped open. It's not going anywhere and the guy was...less than helpful. So I handed it back. See, I can so no.

1858 Thanks for that, I like to "sleep on it" before I do something this big and I woke up this morning and told the wife "I'm gonna wait". You didn't make the decision for me but you reinforced my decision. There is a 1911 style 45 out there that is just right for me and I'll find it sooner or later. Rick

Help me with my addiction, PLEASE!!!
I think you might be at the wrong place to ask for help, as many of us have the same problem.

It's like an alcoholic trying to get help at a bar ...

As to the pistol in consideration, I would recommend as many did - hang onto the money and keep shopping until you come across a real good bargain.
