I'm the proud owner of a P99, just picked it up over the weekend. Really nice, but one question. Why does the slide have the S&W logo on the slide near the Muzzle?

Not that I mind, but is Smith and Wesson importing Walther hence their logo.
There is Walther USA. so I don't get it.

Thanks.

US law requires the importer's name be on a firarm imported into the USA.

Usually, the manufacturer AND the importer is the same. Walther doesn't seem to be interested in setting up its own company here in the USA.

They made a deal with Interarms, and more recently S&W.

The gun is 100% german, but has "S&W" on it because S&W imports it.
