I've been toying around with the idea of picking up a Glock 30 or 36 for some time now.

So yes I am thinking about joing the darkside. Yes the pistol is only the face a mother could love, Yes they are ugly.

But yes I want a subcompact chambered in .45ACP

For G30/36 Owners what are the praises and complaints about this particular firearm? Reliablility and accuracy is a must.

Darkside owners thanks in advanced.

TIA

PS I also forgot to include. How is the customer service and for the peps that have "E" frames is this really an issue?

I have had my 36 for a few months. So far, I've been pretty satisfied w/ it. Accurate, reliable & relatively mild to shoot.

My G30 is 100% reliable with FMJ and Corbon Pow'R Ball, but has an occasional failure to feed depending on which brand of hollowpoint ammunition is being used.

I've found through trial and error that Winchester Ranger T 230gr. and Remington Golden Saber 230gr. are the most feed reliable hollowpoint designs in my particular gun, whereas Winchester White Box 'Personal Protection' 230gr. and Speer Gold Dot 230gr. are the least feed reliable in my particular gun.

Of course, YMMV.

I own both and like both. My experience is that both are accurate and reliable once broken in. I have around 1500 rounds through each at this point. I think the G30 has to be one of the most efficient handguns around in terms of firepower but personally I see it more as a home/car SD weapon because of its weight and blockiness. It is a very easy gun to shoot. If you are okay with seven rounds of .45acp the G36 is a pretty good choice for a potent carry weapon, light and slim (that's theoretical at this point, given where I live). At least one well-known gunsmith has called the G36 the most reliable short-barreled .45 on the market.

i've had my g30 for 4 months now -- i love it.

i also thought about buying the 36 but ended up buying the 30. it's such a sweet shooter. because the double stack magazine, and the rounded plastic frame, the recoil is amazingly soft. remember though, your hand may be shaped differently than mine.

it's also quite accurate. more so than i would imagine from a 4" barrel.

because the 36 is much thinner, the recoil was noticiably sharper.

so it's a trade off as usual. shoot both and decide if the thinner grip is worth more than the softer recoil. and of course the 10 vs 7 cartridge magazine capacity.

I bought my G30 last June, and have probably only fired about 1700 rounds through it. In all those rounds, I had 1 failure to feed, and that was within the first 100 rounds. I assume that was the gun breaking in or something. After that, it's been 100% reliable.

I have both and like both. The G36 gets carried alot and shot some. Comfortable to carry and not too much of a lead weight. The G30 stays in the safe, but comes out more often to get shot. I've tried to carry it - its just too much for me.

If you want a shooter get the G30.

If you want a carry weapon get the G36 - although I enjoy shooting it too.

Had a Glock 36 and loved it! I felt more comfortable with it then some of the other "compact".45's. I was able to carry it and a spare mag IWB with just a short-sleeve button down shirt.
A word of warning I bought one of thoose magazine extensions that holds an extra round however I had malfunctions when I had the mag loaded with 7 rounds and one in the chamber. Test any mag extension before carrying it. With the factory magazines it shot everything I could put through it. Wish I still had it!

I have a G36. Great gun. Recoil not bad at all. The slimness makes you wish more Glocks were like that.

The slimness makes you wish more Glocks were like that.

I'm sure we will be seeing many more slimline Glocks in the future.

I have 2 of each and while I am primarly a 1911 fan short 1911 take alot more work than their 5" brethren to perform flawlessly. I think you would be happy with either.

I've owned a G36 and found the recoil to be slightly snappier than in my G21. I have medium-large hands and could never shoot it as accurately as my G21, so it went bye-bye. It was reliable, but I hated my pinky hanging off the end of the magazine. I just haven't found anything to replace the Glock 21 in comfort, accuracy and reliability, so I'll probably be keeping it for a very, very long time. BTW this is my second G21, spent alot of money to learn that nothing else compares.

Ahhh, my beloved G36. Now that I have a G29, I'm thinking it needs a big brother!! I used to have a G30. Traded it for the 36. Rethinking that move in terms of augmentation!!

Strong, the Dark Side is!!!:D

I have a G30 and its reliable, but its ulgy. It shoots anything I feed it and its accurate enough I would just rather carry a 1911.

Paul

P.S. Did I say its ulgy IMO :fire:

Okay so I have heard all the good stuff about the G30/36.

Are there any complaints?

It is a particularly good weapon. There are many who feel that it is the best pistol in the entire Glock line. Can't speak to that but from personal experience I found the G30 to be very accurate, very reliable, and, IMHO particularly mild when it comes to recoil. It is a bit bulky (what double stack isn't) but it is a fine carry weapon. Sorry I can't say anything about the G36 but I have absolutely no experience with it. Good shooting:)

You asked for complaints, here's mine. The G36 is only .14" slimmer than the G30 but holds 4 fewer rounds. I believe if Glock were interested they could have invested more to make a smaller pistol that holds 6 rounds of 45acp.

I guess that difference works for some, but I was not happy with my G36. I sold it and bought a G30. I think the Glock 30 will be my last Glock for a good long time, it's the best pistol that Glock makes IMO.

If you can, try them both out and pick the one that feels right to you.

i have a glock 36...perfectly reliable....still a little chunky if discrete carry is your goal

do not shoot it well at all "stock"...the addition of a pearce grip extender helps me a lot. plus it gives you another round if that is important to you

the 30s grip did not agree with my hands at all
