Taking the ugly girl to the prom....

Yea I just got a Glock 23 RTF. Not the prettiest thing but they do things no other guns will.;)

FWI my other carry pistols are a:
Dan Wesson CBOB--very nice looking gun and awesome to shoot, just too heavy for frequent CC.

PT-145--not the best looking but not as ugly as the Glock--Im not the most accurate with it though. Not bad, just not bulls-eye. I think it has to do with the poor trigger and a higher bore axis on the follow up shots.

LCP--so small and light I almost forget its there. Not the best stopper but in the summer in light shorts it beats having nothing.

If this G23 goes well I may just sell the PT-145 and get a G30 short frame. I like the RTF finsih because of some loss of feeling (constant numbness/tingling) in my hands but sadly they dont do it in RTF.

The trigger is a bit mushy and gritty so I hope it smooths out some. Its not as bad as the PT-145 but its a far cry from the crisp 1911 trigger.

Congrats on the glock 23. The gen. 3 glocks are my favorite of the glock lineup. Really, i prefer glocks in general to other brands that i have owned or fired. The frame on the 23 allows you to swap the .357 bbl with the same mags and have a 2nd caliber in the same gun. If you get a Lone Wolf after market 9mm bbl and get some 9mm mags, you can have 3 calibers in one gun. If that sort of thing interests you. Overall, the 19/23 size is small enough to conceal with proper equipment and dress, yet big enough to almost be a service pistol. A very versatile model.

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

I love my 23rtf2, carry it every day. I like the look of it better than my other Gen 3.

I have Glocks. Glocks are good guns but I'm curious as to what it can do that other guns can't. I respectfully disagree with your premise.

I was just being factitious...hence the "wink"

Love them or hate them (Im ambivalent, but appreciate their function/reliability) and no one can deny that they are one of the most reliable pistols ever made and take a TON of abuse/neglect and keep on going.

Had to laugh at the title and opening line! :neener: Reminds me of a phrase my brother and I use for the reliability of our "combat 9mms" (CZ-75 and a Glock 17).

Anyway, congrats on the new Glock. There's nothing wrong with them, especially if you like them, as apparently you do (and I do too). And I'll mention my brother would applaude your choice of 1911s as well.

These guys are great plastic surgeons and can do a little nip and tuck for you to get rid of that mush: http://www.ghostinc.com/

I have a Browning HP that writes poetry in Flemish and then translates it into English while still maintaining the meter.

Let's see your Glock top that!:scrutiny:

Your CCWing a Hi Point...

Come on, just remember there is always a gun out there to make your look at least not ugly

The problem is that they tend to rather rare and it's hard to always have one near to the gun you want to not look ugly.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think my RTF2 G23 is a work of art :)

The only thing other pistols can do that the Glock can't is rust.

The Glock model 19/23 is the standard service pistol for thousands of police agencies and militaries all over the world.

Agreed. That is a fact. That size is used as a service pistol in some agencies/armed services. I was making a reference to both it's compact size and to it's ability to be utilized like a service pistol without being service pistol sized like the G17, 22, Sig 226, etc. It is a compact that handles similarly to a full size. I think we can agree that compared to the 17/22, the 19/23 is in fact compact in its size. That's not a knock at all against their performance. It was nod to their versatility. Sort of like "swiss army guns".
