My Lt. and I were talking the other day and he mentioned his .30-30. I asked him about it and he has a Marlin Lever action .30-30 and likes it.
Then he tells me that the Winchester has an aluminum firing pin that will start to bend after a while. Does the Winchester have an aluminum firing pin?

i sure don't know, but it would make no sense at all for winchester to do that.

As far as I have ever heard firing pins have been made of steel, titanium, or beryllium copper. Never heard of aluminum and that certainly wouldn't be a choice for me.

Tell him that Marlins have broken firing pins and see what he says. :neener: http://www.marauder13.homestead.com/M1894Parts.html
