I have been eyeing the Taurus 24/7 OSS for a long time. Of all the Taurus models out there, the OSS series most probably is the most reliable of them all. It was developed for the Special Forces Operation Command back in 2005when manufactures competed for the contract to arm the US military forces.

Anyway, the local shops are selling them for about $498, but Buds is selling them for only $344:eek:. It's hard to beleive that they are actually selling for such a low price. How can that be?

Do you think I should get it?

It's up to you.

Bud's can do this because they buy in volume and can then sell at wholesale prices. Your LGS might not have been able to buy their 24/7s at the price that Bud's is offering them to you.

My first puchase from Buds was a Sigma 9mm. It was $299 shipped before $50 rebate. I called my LGS to see if they would do the transfer, they said sure no problem but let me quote you first. They called back as said their COST on the same gun was $310.

:) Maybe if the gunstore would sell for less they could buy more and make a profit. Don

Anyone that paid $498.00 for an OSS should be flogged with a cat of 9 tails :barf:

They might be willing to sell it at cost plus the transfer fee. When I had an FFL in the 80's, my ability to get some of the most desirable handguns (back then it was high end Colts and Smiths) was directly related to how much business I did with each wholesaler. I was more than willing to turn a slim profit on individual guns in order to crank up my numbers with the distributor.

Make sure you are aware that the 24/7 and 24/7 OSS are very different guns and you are not confusing the prices of the two.

This is what buds is selling.

And that's the price for the 9mm, .40 and .45!

Some of the 24/7's are actually more expensive.

remember the shipping and FFL fees.

20 or 25 in shipping and 10 or 20 for an FFL.

So shopping around at some more reasonably priced shops, or a "cost plus" might make the price difference shrink some.

Of course if you can't find it cheaper that 500 bucks locally, there is no choice...Bud's it is.

Go to a couple of local stores and see if they'll match it or come close.

Ooooops! I just clicked the confirm order on buds...I don't know how that happened. $359 out of buds plus $25 for FFL transfer equals $384, which is still about $120 cheaper than any of the LGS's.

You need a cheaper FFL.

In central Texas THR member Waterman does it for 10 bucks. And is a heck of a nice guy.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND him to anyone near Round Rock

I can't find any FFL within 50 miles of my place that charges less than 20$

But when you get your 24/7, do tell us how you like it and how reliable it is. I was feeling up a few of them at a gun show a few weeks back. I must say, I LOVED the triggers, both in DA and SA.

Some of my local dealers won't transfer from Bud's because their prices are below their costs. Others just charge more for new gun transfers or for guns that they stock.

I've bought from Bud's a few times myself--always a good experience.

They are still on sale at Bud's. Ordered an OSS in 45 ACP Monday. Shipping was free. Did pay the extra 3% ( about 10$ ) so I could use my credit card.
But I pretty much got that back by doing the transfer with Waterhouse ( Adrien ) in Round Rock. Hard to believe that $10 he charges is an increase. He used to charge $6.

And yes, he is a really good guy to work with.
