AOW in Illinois

OK, first, I know the NFA and my state laws like the back of my hand. Apparently, we are allowed to register foregrips for pistols and pen gun's (no SBR OR SBS or anything else like a silencer that could be fun). The problem is, there is not a dealer in town, that is licensed to sell, or help me with getting a tax stamp (plus I'm looking to forming a NFA trust to bypass CLEO sig. because all sheriff's here don't like the second amendment). I assume after forming a trust (with a competent attorney at hand), I could just apply by mail and get permission to build one myself right? or is there something else I'm missing?

1) Form trust with help from an attorney.
2) Have AOW engraved with your trust name, city, and state as the manufacturer.
3) Fill out and submit a Form 1 (http://www.atf.gov/forms/download/atf-f-5320-1.pdf) to the ATF. No pictures or fingerprints required for a trust.
4) Wait to receive approved Form 1 from ATF.
5) Assemble AOW.

Hint - since you have to get the firearm engraved, pick a relatively short trust name. It's cheaper and easier to engrave 'JJD3 Revocable Living Trust' than 'John James Doe III Revocable Living Trust'.

or move to Wisconsin

I wish people would stop with that crap. Not everyone CAN MOVE. And dernit we shouldn't HAVE TOO!!!! I see statements such as that all the time about this state. And while I wish I had never moved here, I can't move right now because of business and family concerns. Most are like that as well. Some of you find it so easy to say "pick up and move if you don't like it" Well I'll tell you what, come pay me for my home, business, and moving expenses. Plus pay for my mother in law (the reason I moved here in the first place so she could spend a lot of time with her Grandbaby) And I would be more than happy to move from this God forsaken state. Until you are willing to do that, then stop with the suggestion that we should move if we don't like it. How about joining us in the fight to make the needed changes to this and other corrupt states and leave the butthead remarks to yourself.

As for the OP, good luck with that buddy. This state sucks BIG TIME on anything NFA related.

Well right now I got the pen gun plans on the back burner because I have to go find a good competent lawyer/attorney to setup an NFA trust, any suggestions? I'm this close to using legalzoom.com (but on the other hand, I'd like to do this the right way and make everything legally fool-proof). Freedom fighter, I could not agree with you more! I'm sick of people telling guys like us to retreat from anti-states. I'm sure we could get a bunch of downstate reps. to foot a bill to allow citizens (at the minimum) to pay NFA taxes on sbr and silencers, Bill Brady looks promising.

Doom, I am not that into NFA related stuff as I really have no need for such items. I would rather concentrate right now on eliminating the FOID card program first then going after CCW so we can actually have a reasonable chance at defending ourselves against the gang element that is so prevalent in this state. It's getting really bad around here where I live. Sounds like the damn O.K. Corral every weekend. I feel if all the little thugs knew that there was a good chance that the "grandma" they were about to mug were armed they would think twice. Most in the neighborhood know I am well armed and for that reason I am left alone. I have already made it well known that I will defend my home with the utmost urgency and have no qualms about sending hoodlums straight to hell. So I guess that kind of proves my point. They seem to mess with just about everyone else around here but me. I am related to a few of the City LEO's in this town and they are surprisingly for CCW. Most of them feel the same way as long as the people that obtain CCW are well trained. I have to agree with that as well. I personally don't feel an untrained person should carry just for the simple safety of people around them in the case of a firefight.

I understand the pain the rest of my fellow Illinoisans feel with "move out" comments. I hear it constantly when I mention I'm from Chicago. At least you're not behind enemy lines in "Daley-stan". Like most of you, I have my own issues with the twisted gun laws in my area so here's my particular list.

First on the list would be preemption: no "Chicago Firearms Permit", no local ordnances requiring gun registration, no local ordinances banning a person from having a firearm in their place of business, no "AWB"s, no magazine cap limits, and statewide transportation standard (enclosed but not broken down). Local ordnances requiring safes would be permitted.

Second, CCW with training, background check, and testing with every model you want to carry. I want to be sure you know how to use your guns proficiently.

Third, eliminate waiting periods. You want to cut down on carbon emissions, don't you?

NFA items can wait. This state is too poor to buy the fun stuff.

sorry but if I couldnt move..........screw the laws! seriously. Illinois is one of the worst states for gun violence due to a certain sacred cow people committing most of the crime in Chicago. If your state wont grant you the right to protect yourself especially if your a hard working tax payer, then they can go to hell! The founding fathers, I guarantee, would agree.:cuss:

Only problem with that is, The founding fathers wont be the ones doing your jail time if you get caught carrying illegally. While I agree whole heartedly with the sentiment, I am not a law breaker.
