Help with email notifications

For the past couple of weeks I have not been receiving email notifications of new replies to subscribed threads and new private messages. I don't recall changing any of my user settings to affect that.
Mods, any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Your settings look right. I just tried sending you a message through the email system. Let me know if you get it. Also, check your spam folder to make sure it didn't get dropped in there. The email service you are using may have classified the messages from THR as spam.

Jorg, thanks for looking into this. I did receive your email. However, I still do not receive email notifications of thread updates and PMs. I seem to be getting e-mails from other members just fine.

I'm going to have to refer this to someone else. I'll make sure that one of the administrators takes a peek at this.

Let me take a peek and see if anything looks off.
Other e-mails that the board sends are getting through just fine, so the obvious place to look is your junk/spam folder. Are the notifications showing up in there?

Sorry for the late reply since I didn't get an email notification of your post.
I'll double check my spam folder but last time I looked when I was trying to diagnose this issue, there were no spam folder messages originating from THR.
Other websites that use vbulletin don't seem to have any problem with email notifications.

Still no luck...

OK, I just manually sent you a test message. Let's see if that got through.

I did get the email but as I explained in my reply, I do get direct emails but not PM and subscribed thread notifications. There doesn't seem to be anything I can modify on my end. Weird.

Well, you're right: everything seems to be configured properly for your account.
And we've verified that e-mails can get from the server to your mailbox, using the same machinery used to send the notification e-mails.
Does anyone else that uses Gmail have problems receiving notification e-mails? I'm still leaning toward the "too many people called notification e-mails spam because they didn't know how to turn them off, so now they may be filtered automatically" hypothesis, but I don't know.
Lemme think on this and see if I can come up with something else later today.

I don't do subscribed thread notifications, but I get the reported thread notifications to my gmail.

I don't do subscribed thread notifications, but I get the reported thread notifications to my gmail. I'm the same way, but it's the same system that sends e-mails out, so I'm at a loss here. I'll look into it again after Turkey Day.

I think the best thing might to be to have docnyt temporarily change his email address to another system and see if it makes a difference. If so, that would indicate it's not his user (or the change kick-started something in the db). If not, we can look at his user record.
Another option might be just to disable all his email settings, save them, and then enable them again.

So should I change my email?

Derek, remember about a month and a half ago several of us were having the same issue. You had to modify some settings to get it working again. I have been getting mine in "bundles" sometimes verses when the post actually hits. Other day I got 22 email notifications in 1 minute for various posts. Other times it does it per post.

FFinIL - that wouldn't apply to docnyt's problem since others are getting notifications, and he is getting none, neither singly or in batches.
docnyt - I double checked your account and you have your "Automatic Thread Subscription Mode" set to "Subscribe with no notification". Do you suppose that might have something to do with your receiving no notifications? (He said playfully sarcastic).
Go into User Options -> Default Thread Subscription Mode and tell us what it is set to. If it doesn't match what I saw above, then there is a bug in the vBulletin code.

Mal H, I swear by John Moses Browning's spirit that when I triple checked my settings, that option was set to instant notification. Perhaps a mod or admin changed it while investigating my problem? I reset it now that you mention it. We'll see if it works.
However, I'm still not receiving email notifications of PM's.

The instant email notification is set to on but I'm still not getting email notification of PMs or subscribed thread posts. Will it help to change my email address just go test?

If you had an oddball email server, then I would say, yes, try changing it. However, we have literally thousands of Gmail users who aren't having a problem receiving emails from us. Gmail or Yahoo is the email server I would have suggested changing to, but you're already using it!
I have been assuming you didn't add any filters that might block emails. Correct? You might want to try this - add webmaster@thehighroad.org to your Contacts list and see if that does anything to solve the problem.
In addition, please send a test email to webmaster@thehighroad.org. We've never tried to see if your email goes the other way. It might give us some clues.
