Hey guys. about 2 or 3 years ago i collected a lot of 223 brass and derprimed it. I didnt have the time or bullets to reload them all so i put them in a box and left them there. I stumble upon them a little while ago and all the cases have small brown spots on them. Does anyone know what they are, if theyre safe to reload, or if theres any way i can get it off?
Thanks
S

Probably local oxidation from gun oils or other. You really need to wash and tumble them to get a good look. However, I run across that on range brass all the time that's been in the weather. Not a problem.

lightly scrub the spots with steelwool to see how deep the stains are. If they are superficial, probably not a problem. If they are deep, I would toss the case.

Let's see a photo if you can. As others have stated, probably not a problem. In the future if you collect range brass I'd advise tumbling with a protectant like nufinish in it to prevent what you are seeing.

This will get them looking like brand new.
