Hey guys
Im waiting to pick up my 243 venture( 1:10 twist). Rifle has R5 rifling looking for some insight on reloading. Talked to a guy at Bass P-- and he made mention that the R5 rifleing preffers a medium burn on the powder. I bought some Hornady interlock 100 gr BT SP and RL 19 powder. Does the R5 preffer a medium burn powder and what other pet recipies would you recomend.

I'm wondering about the 1in10" twist with that long 100gr BTSP.

As far as the R5 rifling preferring medium powders, it's more of what the cartridge design requires, not the rifling.

Rel-19 will give you good performance, but if the 100gr BTSP doesn't group for you, you'll know why. You won't know for sure until you try.
The flat base 100gr interlock may be a better choice with that twist.

I think that you made a good choice with the Venture, as TC makes some quality firearms.

RL-19 is an ideal powder choice, with that bullet weight. That gun-counter-guy steered you right.

But, ideal powder speed is a function of the expansion ratio and bullet wieght. Not the rifling type and rate.

1 loading for all, woodchuck to deer. IMR 4350 @ 42.0gr. CCI BR2 primer, Sierra 85 gr. HPBT #1530, Rem or Win Brass. Start lower on the powder charge and work up as always.
