Hmmm, well that depends on what matters most to you. If you want to use the torch for extended periods then I would go with an L4 for the longer run time. For a good cheap shooting light I would go with the 6P or Z2/G2Z. If you have the cash and want the best, go with the M2 or M3. They will all serve you well!

Agree with Grant that the primary driver should be your intended use.
However, you said you wanted one for "pocket" carry. I assume this means you are not going to have the convenience of a belt holster for said light. IMHO any "pocket" light should be a SF model that has the pocket clip. I used to carry a 3P/6Z until the pocket clip models came out ... best thing since sliced bread.

had the same problems at the beginning of the year.
i,was really confused by all the models of SF out there.
my main criteria was pocket carry,so it had to have a clip.
i,ended up w\a E2 executive and haven't looked back;)
YMMV

Outfield, let's see one to carry in your:
a. Pocket/ Depending on your needs E2e/L4..heck just buy em both..I have both with me right now.
b. Backpack, an A2..what I carry
c. Nightstand..go for the gusto, M4 Devastator, just make sure you put a colored filter over it, you don't want to blow your own eyes out with "white" light. I have a red filter on my M4 which is my nightstand light in addition to a couple of G2's with filters.
Just get em' from Grant, he be the SF man to deal with.
BTW Grant, I got hung up on some other stuff that was "needed" will touch base again when I can to get my kit.

C2-HA. I'd say get the M2, which is exactly the same as the C2-HA except for the shockproof bezel, but I couldn't justify the price for you.

Depends on how much you are willing to spend..
Under $30? G2.
Under $100? E2e
Over $100? L4.

If you're putting the light in the backpack to actually go on trips into the woods, the G2 Nitrolon is a good choice because it's cheap and the plastic body is light but durable. However, trips into the woods require extended burn times, in my opinion, and not retina-searing brilliance. For that reason, I'd choose something along the lines of the SF Aviator. This costs over $100, but you have the benefit of bright light for defense (60 lumens) and three LED's to give you general, campsite illumination.
For a dedicated house gun, I'm going to buy an M2 or bigger. Belt carry is nice with a pouch, but the length is a consideration, too. Anything over120 lumens is very, very bright.
Right now, I have a 6P that I use as-is for duty and general lighting. It is very well-built and I haven't burned up the first set of batteries, yet. I also have a green G2 Nitrolon that I really like for beating around in the pack and glovebox. Both have their place in the arsenal and you can't go wrong.
Grant, drop me a PM with your price list for the shock-isolated 2004 models with the scalloped bezels. Not sure whatall models will have it, but I want one.

I carry the Surefire E2-HA (with a pocket clip) that I got for under $80 on ebay!
I carry it everyday clipped to my pants pocket.
