Ok so I talked to a guy today about getting a Krieger Barrel for my 300 win mag. I looked online and found this: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=625593

First does anyone know where a good place to get one of these barrels would be besides Midway.(maybe a place with them in stock)

Secondly does anyone have experience with this type of barrel no a 300 win mag. If so please share.

You can buy Krieger barrels right from John Krieger in WI. Or, your gunsmith should be able to order whatever barrel you want and install it.

I have several Kriegers in .224, .264, .284, and .308 and they're great.

+1 on 50below.

I was going to send my rifle to Krieger when I found a rifle builder near me to do everything. No regrets. In fact I'm looking at having another rifle rebarreled now.

Either let your very good well respected smithy buy the barrel and install it or check the schedule at Krieger about doing the work there. Follow there break in instrutions and will never regret buyion a Krieger barrel.

Gen Lee: Brownell's sells Krieger barrels and you may buy directly from them. Pleased be advised that these barrels are supplied by bore size only and it will be necessary for your 'smith to fit and chamber this Krieger barrel to your specific caliber. It will be worth it if you have agood action and a good smith.

You will get great customer service when working directly with Krieger Barrels.

Now, that doesn't mean that you won't have to wait for your barrel. Those are two completely different things. The average waiting time for Krieger barrels has been 4-8 months, I think that they have cut that down to 2-4 months by adding manufacturing capacity. You may get lucky, and find that they have your barrel in stock, but that will be simply good luck on your part.

The bottom line - Their barrels are worth the wait.

I have three Krieger barrels and have the "exact" barrel you link to on my .300 Win Mag with the exception that mine is fluted. The photo that Midway is showing is NOT an MTU #10 barrel ... just in case you thought it was. I ordered all three barrels from Krieger directly and I don't think you'll find a significantly better barrel anywhere. There are quite a few excellent barrel makers out there, of which Krieger is one.

As for personal experience with the Krieger barrel on my .300 Win Mag ... how about these two 5-shot groups shot at 100 yards during load development .... not too shabby ... although I did screw up one of the ten shots!
