7.62x39 is the SKS/AK round.
7.62x51 is the equiv. of .308 Winchester. It is also the exact same thing as the 7.62 NATO round, just a different way of describing it.

-7.62x39mm: Soviet issue round, used in SKS and AKM series rifles as well as RPD and RPK series machine guns.
-7.62x51mm NATO: .308 Winchester commercially, used in the FAL, G3, M14, as well as all NATO general purpose machine guns.
-7.62x54mmR: Russian round, originated in 1891. The oldest rifle round still in military service. Chambered in Russian machine guns and the Dragunov sniper's rifle.
-7.62x25mm: Russian pistol round, small bore/high velocity. Chambered in Tokarev and CZ-52 pistols as well as the Ppsh-41/43 submachine guns. Still sees widespread use in Russia.
-7.62x45mm: Czech round, used for a short while in their CZ-52 rifle.
And on and on. .30 caliber is probably the most common firearm caliber in the world.
