There are and have been many fine shotguns on the market that (depending on your point of view) could qualify as "best", such as the Remington 870, the various Benelli weapons, etc. What about the opposite end of the spectrum? Is there any shotgun, either pump or semi, that might deserve to be called "worst" by virture of reliability, manufacturing quality, etc.?

The only problem is that the question is relative and if I put forward my nomination for the worst shotgun there is undoubtedly someone around here who owns one, is deleriously happy with it and will take offense.

Nevertheless, I think the worst shotgun ever built was the Crossfire -- a pump gun that combined a 12 gauge and a .223. Apologies in advance if anyone takes offense.

"Bullpup" shotguns, including the High Standard Model 10 and the variant on the Mossie 500. As reliable as a crackhead's integrity. The concept has merit, but the execution has left lots to be desired so far.

The old Noble pump gun. Prone to breakage of the action bar, lousy triggers and worse QC.

A High Standard 20 gauge pump Pop bought as a spare. Two boxes of shells, one firing pin and a couple jams later, we figured out why it was for sale at such a good price.

The Mossberg 9200 semi auto. I don't think it was on sale for even a year before they took it off the market.

Norinco 98 - I saw one at a match where the shooter finished a run of five, and the barrel slowly tilted forward, and fell off! the shooter had the barrel rewelded on, and brought it back for the next two gun match,(indoor range, no three guns...), and when he stepped up to the box, let the first round off, and the magazine cap popped of, flying well down range with the spring. He had that fixed, and then sold it on consignment.....he has an M3 now....

"Norinco 98" - Interesting... I've got two of them and after several hundred rds of buck, slug & heavy field loads the only problem I've encountered is the ghostring sights loosening from the recoil (easily fixed w/Loctite).

PS- My vote to the High Standard M-10... I used to have one and it handled terribly though reliable for the short time I owned it.

Nobels , Hi-Std auto's, 916 Smiths, Savage 67's, Weatherby Centurions, Browning 500's , Beretta 500's , and that's enough to get me in trouble for now.

Have had 3 B-2000s and loved them a bunch. Prefer O/Us for targets
amd S/S for field useage. Worst ever was a JCHiggins Bolt 16ga.
