I realize that each gun is different and I'm going to get a s***load of different answers here. Between Sierra and Speer bullets, which brand do you think is capable of the greater accuracy in the lower weights 50 - 75 grains? Looking to knock off varmints in the under-100-yard ranges. Not trying to push any speed - just accuracy. Thanks. Oh yea, it's a Rem 700 if you want to cough up your pet varmint load.

Sierra.
But at less then 100 yards, it really doesn't matter.

400 yard prairie dogs, or 500 yard coyotes, it would matter.

I use both, but my best accuracy is with Hornady 60 gr HPs & RL 19 for 1/2" groups at 200 yds in an old model Ruger M77 in 6mm Rem (1:10 twist, 22" bbl). If you aren't dead set on just Sierra/Speer, don't rule others out. This is my most accurate load in this rifle, although H380 does about as well; it is a varmint-buster par excellence at any range from 1-400 yds.

(I might add that velocity is quite quick)

My Rem. 700 VLS likes Sierra 70gr. BlitzKing+IMR-4064. It shoots those loads very well and will blow up anything it hits upon impact.
The Hornady 58gr. V-Max also does well with BL-C(2) loads.:D

Agreed. Under 100 yards either should be accurate enough. IF you were shooting further, I'd start with sierra's. I believe they are cheaper, and they are known to be accurate. I've always had Hornady bullets shoot very accurate in my rifles as well, and I think they are similarly priced to Sierras.

Bottom line:
Under 100 yards I'd go cheapest first and foremost. For further shots I'd start at Hornady or Sierra.
