Another of my older items, dating back ...... who knows?? Maybe 100 years for all I know ..... maybe someone does. Thought it might be of some historic interest .... always used by me with FFg.
It is graduated from 2 1/2 drams - thru quarter dram increments - to 3 1/2 drams. I used to use it for my .577 2 band Enfield musketoon (still would if I could be bothered to go shoot it - AND clean after!! :p ) and generally found 2 1/2 drams was adequate (that's nom 68 grains) shoving a 500 grain (1.14 oz!) Minnie.
Maker is a ''James Dixon and Sons'' .. with a bugle logo ..... I rather think this was a British Company.
It was pretty corroded when I first got it about 30 years ago ... I have tried to improve it a bit but more work needed.

Hey, that is some history lesson, thanks!

Dear Mrs. P95 Carry,
Chris has a bad bad case of cabin fever. Snow has kept him in, I know you really appreciate all his help with holiday stuff and all, he even fixed your printing problem. He says he had been a good boy. [no comment]. I really believe he needs to get out from under your hair, you can't very well vacuum with his feet in the way, and besides , don't you have some stuff that needs to be wrapped for him?
I believe you need to run the hubby off to the range, he needs some play money, and well you can have some peace and quiet after you wrap ALL that stuff you have hidden from him.
Regards,
Steve
Kinda blows any brownie points I had with the Mrs. huh?

Looks like I've been clearing out the drawers in my load bench eh .. correct!! All sorts of goodies!
Trip to range would be good .... for sure - way overdue. Still snow dammit ... and tomorrow am hopin to make the trip to just outside of Phily for the gun show ....... now that is where I must be very careful re my own brownie points ... could be potential here for a lot of trouble when I get home  :p ..... (and poor Mrs. P95 is working too ... so she can get Wednesday off.)
I currently have ''exactly several'' guns just chompin at the bit to get to the range ..... may require skippin some work on a weekday ... I mean ...... some things gotta be done!:D

:D
Maybe that is why I'm single and nobody answers my 'adoption ad'...nah!!
OBTW, I wouldn't carry that powder dipper around or take to a show, might be miscontrued as 'drug paraphenlia" ...pipe looking dealie...with measures for the 'load'...umm no for what your're thinking but I have kept my eyes open in the real world, dealt with LEO [ for the good guys] alcohol rehab ( some do drugs also) and did a rotation in a rehab center hospital setting...the good guy side of the locked doors...I even had a key to come and go as pleased with patients. [that's scary...was a few times too].
Seriously take some photos to the show and ask around...some seasoned fellow might know.
ps, If I block the Mrs email, will that block you too? :p

I don't know where they were located, but Dixon was an established accessory maker of the 19th century. The powder flasks for Colt percussion revolvers were Dixons.
