I wanted to try casting and left a message on the board at my Gunclub
Could anyone tell me where I could get some wheelweights.
Last night a guy called me said he would give me some.
Gave me about 75 lbs cast in ingots a Lyman bottom pour pot ,molds,
ladle and a Lyman 450. WHAT A GREAT DAY !
But I have no idea how to use the sizer. Can anyone help?

Lymans 450 is an easy machine to run and will save you lots of money on the bullets you don't have to buy. Make friends with the guys at the tire shops, they'll give you more wheelweights than you can carry.

Frosted bullets mean your lead is too hot, wrinkled bullets mean either your lead or mould is too cool. Drop cast bullets onto an old towel (or into a 5gal bucket of water to heat treat)

Straight WW's are good for slower velocity bullets like 45's and 44 specials, if you plan to cast for magnums velocities, use 1 roll of 50/50 plumbers solder (2-3 bucks per roll) per 10 lbs WW's to harden them up enough to keep the leading in your gun to a minimum. Flux when the metal looks like it needs it.

Alox is good bullet lube, as is RCBS rifle bullet lube, wax rings for installing toilets can be melted and poured into the Lyman 450 for bullet lube in a pinch. They have hardset lubes that are better but require a 75 dollar heater to mount under your 450, possibly an option.

Everybody and their mother makes good moulds. You'll get good answers to specific questions here. (Wear long sleeves and gloves to cast because lead fumes will absorb right through your skin.)
