Question:

Remember all those AR-15's that were confiscated by the police in Maryland during the shootings there a few years ago? Were those rifles ever returned to their owners?

Don't want to start a big flame war here. I've not seen this issue covered in the media and often wondered what happened.

I don't know what happened to _all_ of them, but I do recall reading that one smart gun owner had his friends, lawyer and video camera document the handover. The ATF guys weren't happy about it, but they were polite and professional. He got his rifle back in good, clean condition a few days later.

If the ever ignorant Chief Moose, PHD, on the board of the Brady Bunch, had his way they are long gone. I stupidly thought you had to be able to speak and read before you could get a PHD.

...but I do recall reading that one smart gun owner had his friends, lawyer and video camera document the handover. This is a really, really good idea for any similar situation. At least for now, a video camera can go a long way towards keeping the cops in line.

the dood was a MD TRTer
the video team was from the NRA
the guys that showed up were FBI
they wanted to take the rifle
but were not given permission
and they were told to leave after they verified the serial number
