Ive had a brand new Glock 23 gen4 for about a month now and I have not chambered a round, but I have taken a loaded clip and both removed it and loaded it into the pistol numerous times. I noticed the first round on top had a flat spot from doing this over time. Is this normal? Ive never examined a round after doing that. It was a 165 grain Winchester PDX hollow point. Any help is appreciated!

Normal. You're slamming the same round time after time into the bottom of the slide. The steel slide being harder than the brass and lead cartridge will result in the cartridge becoming deformed.

If it's noticeably deformed odds are the round will not chamber.

Of course it's normal.

remove one round from your mag to allow some space to compress and it might not happen as quickly.

You've had a brand new gun for month that you haven't fired yet?? You're a better man than me... I'd have a thousand rounds through it by now!

it's like tapping it with a little hammer each time you slam it in. It is hitting steel against brass or another softer metal, try not to do that, if you need that gun for self defense, just load it up with new ammo and use the stuff you have been playing with at the range.

Please don't call it a "clip". It's a "magazine" or just "mag". The nomenclature police will be here soon with tasers and they will NOT be happy. :(

Maybe you should stop slamming the magazine. Eat some Wheaties so you can push it in without denting the ammo. :)

Reducing loaded mag capacity by about 2 rounds should also help.
