I just bought a new Tarus PT1911 chambered in 38 Super. I took it to the range and found that it would fire sometime and not fire again.
Tarus uses a set screw in the hammer for a Security System, I checked it and it was not applied.
I noticed that even the primers that did fire were hardly dimpled.
I could take some of the rounds that did not fire and reload them in the gun and they might fire.
Does anyone have a cure for this problem? I don't want to send this gun back to a service center. Thank you, Genek

So you've checked the hammer and firing pin channel for crud already?

How far have you stripped it down and cleaned? Taurus has been known to be a bit heavy with the shipping preservative, which is a really crappy lube but a pretty good rust inhibitor. First get the thing detail stripped and spotless, and look for burrs or foreign material while you're in there.

Yes, Id suggest a slide strip for cleaning and inspection.
What your describing sounds like a broken firing pin, But it could be a range of many things.
If you go too TaurusArmed.net they have stickies on disassembly and putting it back together. But any series 80 guide will work.

If you cant fix it with cleaning and dont find any broken parts it will most likley be an issue in the frame and if your not a gun savvy person id suggest sending it back to Taurus. Call them and ask for a shipping label as they will pay for shipping for the first year you own the gun.

Ok guys thanks for the input. I guess it is time for me to take the firing pin out and inspect it. Genek
