I have studying this gun closely for a while. I am still on the fence for buying it. Only because I just bought a Springfield 1911 Mil-spec. Here in Kansas I have found it for $579 and also been quoted $599. This seems to be about the going price. There is lots of great posts on the .454 if you do a search. From all reading it should turn out to be a great gun for you.

Thanks. That's pretty much in line with the prices I've found in Colorado and Wyoming. Still trying to decide. Decisions, decisions!!!

I have the 7 1/2" SRH .454. It's one of my favorite guns. It's extremely versatile. You can handload mild to wild. I've hunted bear, pigs, deer and other game with it. I've used a 2x scope with it, but usually just hunt with iron sights. I took a 300 lb boar at about 75yds with iron sights at a rest over a fallen tree. I've handled the new 500 S&W, which is just too physically large to pack around. The SRH is packable.

I have a .480 SRH and with tax it came to $600. This is in Alabama.
