Well, I did it!

Loaded my first 25 shotshells. Quite enjoyable and can't wait til I can shoot them to check my results. Think I'm gonna be hooked, already given the wife mega hints about Christmas and a press for rifle/pistol.

One question about my reloader, it is a RCBS Mini Grand bought new in the box. It seems to be a bit "off center" for some of the stages. I have to hold the shell casing and guide it onto the wad guide, if I don't the side of the shell will hit about the center of the wad guide, also have to hand guide it into the crimp starter and finisher. It is off a little bit at the deprimer and primer but not enough to effect function with these two operations. Is this normal or should I take it back and exchange it?

All of my shot shell loaders line up with the appropriate center. I'd contact RCBS.

Congrats.

After you shoot them you will still be smiling when you get home. Reloading can be very therapeutic and satisfying.

I don't reload shells so can't help you there.

But when you come back from shooting your reloads, you'll be thinking "what if I..."

This is how the addiction starts.

Congrats on your reloads!

You should not have to guide the shell or anything except the wad. Something is out of time or something is bent/broken to cause the out of time problem... call RCBS they will help you find the problem.

....nothing quite as satisfying as the little shot nestled in the center of the crimp on a new reload.

It is killin me seeing them just sitting there mocking me! Probably be a couple weeks before I get to shoot them though as this weekend is deer gun season so I'll probably be hangin from a tree, and don't want to shoot any and spook the deer!

Gonna try to take the press back to where I bought it I think, be easier then monkeying with a timing issue, hopefully they will exchange it, only a week old so they should.

Finally got to shoot my first batch and I am hooked! Felt like a proud poppa, there is something quite satisfying about pulling the trigger on a shell you have loaded yourself, now if RCBS would just get my new part to me I could load some more! :D

On a side note I will never step through the doors of Buckeye Outdoors or Vance's as they have zero support for products they sell and do not seem to give a rats patoot about their customers. :fire:
